WEST LOOP — Esco Bar, the intimate bar above newly-opened Latin American restaurant Ronero opens Friday on Randolph in the West Loop.
The "sultry" bar will bring tableside cocktails, nicknamed "Cartel Cocktails," live music and weekly entertainment to the new restaurant at 738 W. Randolph St. The bar is open Thursday through Saturday at 9 p.m. Planned performances include conga players, three-piece bands, DJs and dancers.
Designed as an homage to Castillo San Filipe de Barajas in Cartagena, Colombia, a place that holds special memories for Ronero proprietor Nils Westlind, the upstairs bar focuses on large format cocktails served tableside. Two of Ronero's original cocktails are available in this larger serving designed for four to six people, including the Bombilla, made with Old Forester Signature Bourbon, Benedictine Herbal Liqueur, Stone Ground Yerba Mate Tea, lemon, and mint; and the Cipitio, made with Martin Miller Gin, Cointreau Orange Liqueur, a special ensalada mix, pineapple, and lemon.
The tableside cocktails are crafted on a custom bar cart and served in rose gold swan vessels.
Esco Bar also offers its own signature cocktail, the Leyenda de Guatemala, made with Zacapa XO, cocoa nib, coffee, Angostura, orange oil, and mezcal mist, two individually-sized cocktails made at the table and other Ronero favorites.

Inspired by the Latin American region where he grew up, Westlind opened Ronero on Randolph's restaurant row in December.
