CHICAGO — Shootings wounded eight people on Wednesday, police said.

• At 10:40 p.m., a 43-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 3700 block of West Roosevelt Road when he heard loud noises and realized he'd been shot.

The man was hit in his right leg and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 9:52 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot while standing on the sidewalk on the Near West Side.

• At 8:22 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in South Shore, police said. The man was standing outside in the 7600 block of South Kingston Avenue when a silver car drove up and someone inside fired shots.

The man was hit in his abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said.

The shooter drove away, police said.

• At 6:42 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in Albany Park.

• At 1:56 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. The man was standing in the 800 block of South Cicero Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 12:57 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting in West Pullman, police said. the woman was in the 900 block of West 116th Place when several people walked up to a home and fired shots as she came outside.

The woman's head was grazed by a bullet and she refused emergency medical attention, police said.

The shooters ran away, police said.

• At 11:56 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham, police said. The man was in the 1200 block of West 81st Street when someone walked up to him and fired shots.

The man was hit multiple times in his hand and back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

One person was in custody and a gun was found, police said.

• At 11:42 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. He was walking in the 5000 block of West Chicago Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his leg and he took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

He is a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody in these shootings unless otherwise noted.
