Teen Paralyzed In Albany Park Had Just Robbed His Shooter, Reports Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Albany Park that left a 15-year-old paralyzed last week was the result of a drug deal gone bad, according to reports.

At 6:42 p.m. last Wednesday, the teen was shot in his neck in the 3800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, police said.

He was first taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Jonathan A. Ramos, 22, of Avondale was charged with aggravated battery for the shooting, according to the according to the Tribune.

Ramos appeared in court over the weekend.

Prosecutors said Ramos met with the teen to sell him marijuana, but the boy pulled a gun and robbed Ramos. After a chase on Lawrence Avenue, Ramos caught the teen, beat him, grabbed the gun and shot the boy, according to the Tribune.

Prosecutors told the court the teen is paralyzed from the chest down. Ramos is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday.
