CHICAGO — A shooting in Little Village killed Ramon Valdez, 36, and wounded another in Little Village on Thursday night, officials said.

At 9:23 p.m., the men were standing on the sidewalk in the 2700 block of South Homan Street when a black SUV drove up and someone inside fired shots at the men, police said.

The men took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Valdez, of the 3300 block of West 64th Place, was hit in his chest and pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The other victim, 36, was hit in his leg and was in good condition.

No one was in custody.
