JEFFERSON PARK — Brown's Chicken, 5601 W. Lawrence Ave., shut its doors after losing its lease last week, according to employees.

A sign was posted outside the restaurant Monday reading "Closed / Lost Our Lease." Black paint was smeared over signs around the building.

Brown's operates another city location in Garfield Ridge, 6909 W. Archer Ave., along with 22 suburban restaurants.

The Jefferson Park outpost was first issued its restaurant license in April 2011, according to city data.

A spokesperson for the restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
