BEVERLY — Irie Island Jerk Chicken Restaurant in Beverly has been closed by regulators for failure to comply with state tax laws.

Three green stickers were displayed Monday afternoon on the windows of the restaurant at 1442 W. 103rd St. In three different languages, the signs all read that "the business' certificate of registration is hereby revoked."

Officials with the Illinois Department of Revenue do comment beyond what was posted on the windows, namely that the restaurant's license had been rescinded for delinquent taxes.

A phone call to the restaurant went unanswered Monday afternoon, and the voicemail box was full. An effort to contact the business through its Facebook page was also unsuccessful.

Irie Island is the latest of three area businesses where the green stickers have surfaced recently in the 19th Ward.

Cullinan's Stadium Club, a bar and grill at 11610 S. Western Ave. in Morgan Park, and Kiddie Kouture Boutique, a children's clothing store at 10324 S. Western Ave. in Beverly, closed similarly this month.
