Near West Side Shootings Wound 2 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings on the Near West Side wounded two people on Thursday, police said.

• At 11:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the first block of North Western Avenue on the Near West Side when someone in a gray SUV fired shots at him.

The man was hit in his left leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 5:50 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot along the border of Little Village and North Lawndale, police said. The man was standing on the corner in the 2100 block of South Millard Avenue when a passenger in a black SUV fired shots at him and drove away.

The man was hit in his back and right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
