BEVERLY — Kiddie Kouture Boutique in Beverly is closed as a result of a tax discrepancy.

Calls to the children's clothing store at 10324 S. Western Ave. went unanswered Monday and the voicemail was full. Further attempts to reach owner Amanda Reagan were also unsuccessful.

A message on Kiddie Kouture's Facebook page shed some light on the situation.

"Sorry all there has been a misunderstanding with my taxes I will be closed until further notice," the Dec. 5 post reads. It's followed by several comments from well wishers.

Three bright green signs were stuck to the outside windows on Tuesday evening. In three different languages, the signs all read that "the business' certificate of registration is hereby revoked."

Officials with the Illinois Department of Revenue do not to comment beyond what was posted on the windows, namely that the store's license had been rescinded for failure to comply with state tax laws.

Amanda Reagan opened Kiddie Kouture Boutique in Beverly in July 2015. She stocked a variety of American-made and organic items with an emphasis on age-appropriate clothing.

A resident of suburban Blue Island, Reagan opened her boutique clothing store in July 2015. She was intent on offering an alternative to booty shorts, crop tops and other outfits she believed were too risque for young girls.

Instead, she opted to stock her 1,400-square-foot store with what she considered age-appropriate clothing along with American-made items, organic clothing and some locally-made items.
