MORGAN PARK — The holiday lights were lit inside Cullinan's Stadium Club Tuesday afternoon, but the doors were locked tight at the bar and grill at 11610 S. Western Ave. in Morgan Park.

Three bright green signs were stuck to the outside windows in recent days. In three different languages, the signs all read that "the business' certificate of registration is hereby revoked."

Calls to the bar went unanswered, and owner Dan Cullinan did not return messages seeking comment.

An official with the Illinois Department of Revenue also refused to comment beyond what was posted on the windows, namely that the bar's license had been rescinded for failure to comply with state tax laws.

Cullinan has owned the bar since 1989. Hoping to capitalize on the arrival of the Morgan Park Sports Center, he said in October 2015 that he was planning to rename the bar Cullinan's Center Ice.

A Beverly resident, Cullinan talked about making some minor upgrades to the bar and incorporating a hockey theme. He said then he was building a nest egg to pay for the improvements.

But the name never changed. And the bar known for its half-pound burgers, now appears to have been closed for unpaid taxes.
