WEST LOOP — Starting this weekend, neighbors will once again join together to usher in the holiday season at Mary Bartelme Park in the West Loop.

The park will host the sixth annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday with a visit from Santa, sleigh rides, hot chocolate and free pizza courtesy of Lou Malnati's. The Skinner West Elementary School Choir and a Merit School of Music choir also plan to perform.

Families can take photos with Santa for free at the park, said Armando Chacon, president of the Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, the sixth annual Menorah-lighting ceremony is planned in the park, 115 S. Sangamon St.

Before the Menorah-lighting ceremony, at 5 p.m., kids can enjoy Hanukkah crafts, activities and treats in Room 210 at Merit School of Music, located at 38 S. Peoria St. just north of Bartelme Park.

Both events are sponsored by the Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council and Merit School of Music. The tree-lighting is also sponsored by Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group and Lou Malnati's.
