Teen Dead, 7 Wounded In Shootings Since Monday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have left a 17-year-old dead and seven others wounded since Monday, police said.

• Just after 2 p.m., a 17-year-old was killed and a 16-year-old boy was wounded in North Lawndale, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 7:10 p.m., a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were shot in South Chicago, police said.

They were walking in the 8000 block of South Houston Avenue when someone walked up to them and fired shots, Estrada said.

The 20-year-old was grazed in his stomach and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said. The 21-year-old was hit in his back and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

• At 6:25 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in North Lawndale, police said.

• At 5 p.m., a 50-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

The man was standing on the street in the 5000 block of South Racine Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said.

He was hit in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

• At 4:45 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in Riverdale, police said.

The man was standing at a bus stop in the 13100 block of South Saint Lawrence Avenue when someone drove by in a silver vehicle and fired shots, Estrada said.

He was hit in his leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

• At 1:10 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in South Chicago, police said.

He was standing on the street in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue when someone he knew approached him, Estrada said. The two got into an argument, and the acquaintance pulled out a gun and shot the man before running away, Estrada said.

The man was hit in his neck and leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

No one was in custody.
