Ketrell Hill, 17, Killed, 2 Others Wounded in North Lawndale Shootings

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old was killed and two other teenagers were wounded in two separate shootings in North Lawndale Monday, police said.

Just after 2 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot dead and a 16-year-old boy was wounded, said officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesperson.

They were standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Homan Avenue when someone drove past them in a black vehicle and fired shots before driving off northbound on Homan, Estrada said.

The 17-year-old was hit in his chest and left hand and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said. He was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He has been identified as Ketrell Hill of the 3600 block of West Grenshaw Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The 16-year-old was hit in his buttocks and was taken to the same hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

At 6:25 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was also wounded in a shooting in North Lawndale, police said

That teen was hit in his right leg in the 1300 block of South Karlov Avenue and took himself to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody.
