EDGEWATER — The corner of Clark Street and Devon Avenue got a little cozier Monday morning when Cozy Corner Diner & Pancake House opened in Edgewater for the first time.
The diner serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6 a.m.-4 p.m. daily and replaced the former Deluxe Diner at 6349 N. Clark Street. The Edgewater spot marks the chain's third location, with two others in Logan Square and Hermosa.
Owner Nick Tsiftilis said his uncle opened the Logan Square location 30 years ago, and he hopes to plant long-term roots in Edgewater, too.
"We're excited to be up here," Tsiftilis said. "We have a really nice clientele, the vibe is really good up here. ... We want to stay here, we have no intention to go anywhere anytime soon."
The restaurant was slated to open earlier this year but took "a little longer" than expected, Tsiftilis said.
Now the pancake house is up and running, complete with $5.99 early bird breakfast specials between 6-9 a.m. as well as lunch deals for under $10.
So far, the menu matches its sister locations, though Tsiftilis said it could evolve with the needs and wants of the customers.
Staples like pancakes, waffles, French toast, bacon and eggs, and biscuits and gravy are all represented.
"Come give us a try," Tsiftilis said. "Our goal is to give excellent food and excellent customer service."
