WEST LOOP — Two men tried to rape a woman on a West Loop street earlier this month, Chicago Police said.

At about 2:45 a.m. Nov. 3, a 35-year-old woman was in the 0-99 block of North Racine Avenue — between Madison Street and Washington Blvd. — when two unknown men approached her, Chicago Police said. The men then grabbed her and threw her to the ground.

They grabbed her breasts and attempted to remove her clothing, police said.

The victim fought back and struck her attackers, who fled with the woman's purse and cell phone, police said. She refused medical attention at the scene.

Police did not provide a description of the offenders. No one is in custody in connection to the attack.

Chicago Police did not send out a crime alert on the criminal sexual assault, but the incident was reported on CPD's map of recent crimes.
