PILSEN — Two groups are asking Pilsen and Little Village neighbors to weigh in on plans for the planned Paseo public trail at a meeting Thursday.

Illinois Humanities and Pilsen Alliance will host a meeting from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at La Catrina Cafe, 1011 W. 18th St. in Pilsen. Organizers will ask neighbors to share their opinions on current plans for the path, according to the Facebook event.

The Paseo path and promenade will stretch about four miles along a largely abandoned BNSF railway tracks between Pilsen and and Little Village. Starting at the intersection of 16th Street and Sangamon Street, Paseo  will lead down to Cermak Road and follow Blue Island Avenue and 26th Street all the way to Central Park Avenue.

First proposed in 2006, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and city planners announced plans to build the trail in March of this year.

Paseo's development follows the opening of the 606 Bloomingdale Trail's debut in 2015.
