With steep cover charges and pricey packages at many other neighborhood bars, the Metro (and neighboring GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St., decided to keep it free and give fans a chance to donate a few bucks to one of Chicago’s largest and longest-operating food pantries.
GMan manager Katie Degroote said fans should arrive early if they want to snag a stool or table in the cozy Clark Street bar. And long lost friends: no reservations.
"I am SO overwhelmed and humbled by all the great friends old and new that have been kind enough to reach out and say hi for no particular reason tonight," Degroote wrote on Facebook after the Cubs won Tuesday. "I CAN NOT SAVE YOU SEATS OR GUARANTEE ENTRANCE!!! We open at noon! Definitely want to see y'all and hi-five. Get your a-- here early and don't be a jerk! Kisses! GO CUBS!!"
