Not Everyone Loves The Cubs: South Side Bar Welcomes Haters

By Howard Ludwig | October 24, 2016 12:26pm | Updated on October 24, 2016 2:45pm

MORGAN PARK — McNally's in Morgan Park has a long history of poking fun at the Chicago Cubs for the team's losing ways. And the bar at 11136 S. Western Ave. is hoping those ways continue.

A pair of messages on the marquee broadcast the tavern's unwavering attitude Monday morning. Southbound traffic on Western Avenue is greeted with the sign that reads, "Fun Starts Now. Go Indians."

Northbound traffic is treated to the message, "2016 Cub Curse: Jobu." This is a reference to the 1989 movie "Major League," which features a fictional Cleveland Indians team that wins the American League crown.

But the South Side bar that announced it was for sale this month is largely alone in its disdain for the North Siders. Cullinan's Stadium Club in Morgan Park, Dinger's Sports Bar in Beverly and Sean's Rhino Bar in Beverly all had nice things to say about the Cubbies.
