COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 58-year-old Near West Side woman used a crowbar to knock a rapist unconscious after he broke into her home early Monday, prosecutors said.

"If I'd been a crybaby, he'd have had me," the victim told Fox32 News, explaining how she tapped her knowledge of boxing to "stick 'em and move baby, stick 'em and move."

When police arrived about 7 a.m., they found 30-year-old Dorval Grice unconscious in the victim's ransacked bedroom, according to Assistant State's Attorney Bryan Grissman, who spoke during a bond hearing Tuesday.

The 58-year-old woman had been asleep in her bedroom in the 1300 block of South Throop Street in University Village when Grice, a longtime neighbor, entered the woman's home through an unlatched living room window about 6:30 a.m., prosecutors said.

Grice woke the victim up by pulling her hair and demanding oral sex, according to Grissman.

When the woman refused, Grice punched her several times in her head, prosecutors said. That's when he ripped off the woman's underwear and forced himself on her, prosecutors said.

The victim begged for her life, prosecutors said, and fought against Grice.

The victim, identified by Fox32 as Angela Ferguson, said Grice “kept saying, don't look at me b----, I'm the Grim Reaper."

She was eventually able to grab a glass mug from her nightstand and beat Grice in his head, Grissman said. The woman then grabbed a crowbar she keeps near her bed for protection and beat Grice unconscious, according to prosecutors.

At that point, she called 911.

Police found her on her porch, wrapped in a bathrobe and covered in blood, Grissman said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where a rape kit was collected.

Grice, meanwhile, was arrested about 7 a.m. Monday and charged with home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

According to his public defender, Grice works as a waiter. Prosecutors said Grice has previous convictions for aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance.

Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil on Tuesday set bail at $250,000.
