LOGAN SQUARE — More than two dozen food trucks took over Humboldt Boulevard over the weekend for the first-ever Logan Square Food Truck Social.

The festival, put on by The A.V. Club, was well-attended on Saturday, drawing more than 5,000 people. But only half that number came out on Sunday, according to Kara Salgado, whose company, Optimum Events LLC, produced the festival.

"I think the Bears game and Cubs game hurt us on Sunday. Saturday we exceeded our expectations on attendance so it kind of evens out," Salgado said in an email, adding that her team expected 5,000 people to attend each day.

Despite the dip in attendance, Salgado said she hopes to bring the festival back to Logan Square next fall.

"It was a great location and we got a lot of great positive feedback from the community! Maybe in late September ... hopefully with no major sports games to compete with," she wrote in an email.

The two-day festival brought 26 food trucks, live music and drinks to Humboldt Boulevard between Armitage and Bloomingdale avenues. Revolution Brewing supplied the beer.

It's the latest food truck social for Salgado and her team. The group hosted a Pilsen Food Truck Social in June and one in West Town at the end of September.
