On May 30, Javier Martinez was in the 1500 block of West 18th Street when he became involved in a fight, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. Martinez was taken to University of Illinois Hospital.

Martinez was pronounced dead at 4:23 p.m. June 5, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

On Tuesday, the Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy showed Martinez died of a hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm, blunt force injuries to his head due to an assault and ethanol and cocaine intoxication. His death was a homicide.
