COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A series of iCloud photos helped police catch a University Village robbery suspect, prosecutors said Monday.

Alchino Campbell, 18, is accused of stealing a 26-year-old woman's iPhone by pretending to have a gun in the 900 block of West 14th Place on Sept. 9.

The North Lawndale teen then snapped photo after photo on the device, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said during a bond hearing Monday.

The only problem? Each image was sent straight to the victim's iCloud storage center.

According to prosecutors, police used those images to track down Campbell, of the 1500 block of South Sawyer Avenue. Campbell now faces charges of aggravated robbery.

According to court records, Campbell was free on his own recognizance for three separate pending cases at the time of the Sept. 9 incident.

The first case is a felony out of suburban Maywood. Campbell was arrested in late August and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary and aggravated fleeing. A judge released Campbell on his own recognizance pending trial.

Campbell was arrested again twice in early September. He was charged with trespassing Sept. 3 and theft Sept. 7, court records show. In each instance, judges released Campbell on his own recognizance.

As Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. listened to the pending charges in court Monday, Bourgeois shook his head. He then set bail in the aggravated robbery case at $500,000.
