UPTOWN — After two weeks of dormancy, Uptown honky-tonk Carol's Pub will "remain closed until further notice," according to a message posted to the bar's Facebook page Friday night.

There was no sign or message posted outside the bar, 4659 N. Clark St., on Sunday morning.

One of the city's last venues for live country and western music multiple nights a week, Carol's appeared to be serving drinks and hosting bands through Labor Day weekend.

But on Sept. 9, the bar's Facebook page posted notice of a one-week temporary closure "due to circumstances beyond our control."

Another, similar message appeared on the page a week later, with an added intention to "be back up and running next week."

The most recent update, announcing that the bar would stay closed "until further notice," was posted Friday night.

In reply to a comment on the post, the administrator of the Facebook page wrote that "Carol is really the only one who knows what's going on."

Carol Harris has owned the eponymous pub since 1993, according to Uptown Update, which first reported the closure.

The phone number listed for the bar is out of service, and its website leads to an error page.
