OLD IRVING PARK — Old Irving Brewing is officially open for drinkers and diners.
The highly anticipated brewpub at 4419 W. Montrose Ave. debuted six of its own beers on tap, along with a handful of other craft brews available in bottles and cans.
The menu, developed by co-owner Matthias Merges and chef Michael Shrader, hits a number of unexpected highlights.
The pigs feet croquettes are Instagram-friendly, and the wood-fired seafood salad is a departure from more typical greens offerings.
Sandwiches include a veggie option, as well as a BLTA (the usual suspects, plus avocado).
Heftier fare includes a smoked hamhock and white bean stew, sauteed calf's liver, and whole roasted fish.
Old Irving Brewing's hours are: 5 p.m. to midnight on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday; and 10:30 a.m. to midnight on Sunday. The brewery will be closed on Tuesdays.
