NEAR WEST SIDE — A man groped a woman during an attempted robbery on the Near West Side earlier this month, police said.

The woman, 29, was walking in the 700 block of South Racine Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 9. A man approached her and attempted to take her purse, police said.

The man also grabbed a "body part" of the woman, police said, without giving more details. The incident was listed as a case of "criminal sexual abuse."

The robbery attempt was unsuccessful and the man fled. The woman sustained "minor injuries," police said.

The only description of the man involved in the attack was that he was 20-30 years old.
