WEST LOOP — A block party fundraiser for the Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council brought about 1,000 people to the West Loop park Saturday.

With live music, food trucks and other family fun, the sixth annual "Party for the Park" at Sangamon and Adams raised $20,000 improvements and programs in Bartelme Park, according to Bartelme PAC President Armando Chacon.

Among other projects, the proceeds will help fund a new AstroTurf surface in the park's dog-friendly area and the annual Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremonies (Dec. 3 and Dec. 26 this year).

Coupled with the successful move of the West Loop farmers market to Bartelme Park, "it was a fantastic day," Chacon said.
