WEST LOOP — The West Loop farmers market is moving to a new location starting Saturday.

Operated by Green City Market, the outdoor market will move to Mary Bartelme Park, 115 S. Sangamon St., effective tomorrow, confirmed Armando Chacon, president of the Bartelme Park Advisory Council. The market is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 29.

The old market location, staged in a lot at 211 S. Peoria St., didn't bring enough traffic to the market, Chacon said.

"Bringing the market more into the residential core of the neighborhood makes sense," he said.

The new market, which brings fresh produce and artisan treats to the neighborhood, will be staged by the sculpture structure in Bartelme Park.

Last year, Green City staged the market at the corner of Fulton and Halsted streets.
