WEST LOOP —The Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council will host a block party fundraiser benefiting the park Saturday.

The 6th annual "Party for the Park" will bring live music, food trucks and local vendors together for a day of family fun. The party will be staged from 5-10 p.m. Saturday on Sangamon Street between Monroe and Adams.

Suggested donation is $10 and kids are free. All proceeds from the event will fund park improvements, activities and programs in the park, including the annual Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremonies (Dec. 3 and Dec. 26 this year).

Bartelme PAC President Armando Chacon said that the park functions as a town square or piazza of the West Loop, bringing together families in the neighborhood dominated by condominiums.

"Whatever you call it, it has become a great gathering spot and gem for our neighborhood," Chacon said.

Neighbors interested in volunteering at "Party in the Park" can contact Chacon at armando.chacon@century21.com.
