HYDE PARK — Hyde Park poets on Sept. 17 will unveil the neighborhood’s longest poem — at least in feet.

The Indie City Writers group enlisted Hyde Parkers to help write a poem that fills 42 feet of paper at the Hyde Park Farmer’s Market, and now they’re ready to show off the finished work at 1 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave.

“One of my favorite lines was ‘To Hyde Park or Not to Hyde Park. That is the question,’ said Kirsten Jensen, one of the organizers behind the poem. “But you’ll have to come out and find your own favorite.”

The poem was written in six hours on Aug. 18.

Authors from the writers’ collective will read the poem at 2 p.m. and people from the community are invited to come and spend five minutes reading their own poems and stories.

The event is free and open to the public.
