DOWNTOWN — If it sometimes seems like there's a Starbucks on every block, just know that on one stretch of Michigan Avenue, you're right.

A new Starbucks opening next month at 333 N. Michigan Ave. will be the fifth in a five-block stretch between the Chicago River and Millennium Park.

The new store is scheduled to open by late September, a Starbucks spokeswoman said. A sign announcing the new coffee shop is already posted in the landmarked Art Deco tower known for its Blackhawks store.

"333 N. Michigan’s historic appeal and highly desirable Michigan Avenue location are generating significant interest from high quality retailers," a spokesman for Wirtz Realty Corp., which owns the tower, said in a statement.  "We are really excited to have Starbucks join us, bringing us another highly respected retailer.”

The opening will follow that of another Starbucks just a few months ago in the new Mila apartment tower, 200 N. Michigan. Two other Starbucks are in the Pedway at the Illinois Center and Millennium Station. Another shop sits at 8 N. Michigan.

Starbucks also has shops in the Aon Center and Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower just east of Michigan Ave.

The Starbucks spokeswoman said the new store at 333 N. Michigan will serve the chain's traditional menu, and not the "evenings" menu including beer and wine.

The new store will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
