
WOODLAWN — Basketball player Dwyane Wade's cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was killed in a Woodlawn shooting Friday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nykea Aldridge, 32, was shot while pushing a stroller near the Parkway Gardens apartments in the 6300 block of South Calumet Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Two men walked up to another man and shots were fired while Aldridge was walking down the street, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Aldridge was shot in her head and arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police and the Medical Examiner's Office.
Police said they are are questioning three persons of interest connected to the shooting.
Wade said on Twitter late Friday that Aldridge was his cousin.
"Another act of senseless gun violence. Four kids lost their mom for no reason," Wade said.

Police said Aldridge was not the intended target.
The shooting came one day after Wade appeared in a video for a town hall meeting in Woodlawn hosted by ESPN where he talked about preparing his own sons for the violence in the city.
