CHICAGO — A 42-year-old man was shot twice in his back about a block away from the Leighton Criminal Courthouse in Little Village Wednesday morning, police said.

At 7:16 a.m., the man was walking in the 2900 block of West 25th Place when someone shot at him from a passing car, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Trainor said.

No one is in custody, police said.

An estimated 5,000 to 6,000 people visit the Cook County courthouse at 2650 S. California Ave. daily.
