Shootings Kill 1 Person, Wound 5 Since Monday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person has been killed and five wounded in shootings since Monday, police said.

• At 10:06 a.m. Monday, a 68-year-old man was shot dead in Douglas. Police said it was "domestic related."

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 7:35 p.m. Monday, a 51-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was driving in the 7600 block of South Ashland Avenue when another car drove up and someone inside fired shots.

The man was hit in his hand and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

• At 4:45 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Bronzeville, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was in the 4700 block of South Prairie Avenue when he was hit in his foot.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition, Sweeney said.

• At 11:05 a.m., a 24-year-old man walked into West Suburban Hospital after being shot in Austin, Sweeney said. The man had been in the 500 block of North Central Avenue when someone walked up to him and fired shots.

The man was hit in his groin and was scheduled to be transferred to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Sweeney said.

• At 9:43 a.m., a man and woman were shot in Garfield Park, Pacheco said. The two were in the 0-100 block of South Kedzie Avenue when the man was shot in his leg and arm and the woman was hit in her leg.

The two took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were in good condition, Pacheco said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
