JEFFERSON PARK — With the largest property tax hike on the books, now's the time to make sure you're not paying more than you should be.

The deadline for residents of Jefferson Township to appeal their property taxes with county officials is Monday.

Homeowners can file an appeal of their property taxes online, officials said.

The bill that arrived last month in residents' mailboxes reflect a $318 million tax hike approved by the City Council. It was touted by Mayor Rahm Emanuel as the only way to fill the city's massive deficit and shore up pensions for police officers and firefighters.
