SOUTH LOOP — After opening two new restaurants, The Shops at Roosevelt Collection is bringing some brews with the World of Beer.

The Tampa-based chain beer hall plans to open its first city tavern next year at the South Loop mall, 150 W. Roosevelt Road, according to its property manager.

Once open, World Of Beer will inhabit a 5,000-square-foot storefront at the front of the shops at Roosevelt and Delano Court, said Megan Warmouth of McCaffrey Interests, which manages the property.

Each of the chain's restaurants serve food, more than 50 craft beers on draft, and more than 500 cans and bottles from the fridge, according to the World of Beer's website. The chain has more than 70 taverns across the country, including one in suburban Evanston and another in Naperville.

Ted Mavrakis, a Chicago investor, first planned to open a World of Beer on Jewelers Row last year, but an ensuing legal dispute put those plans on hold. Mavrakis, who owns the Illinois franchise rights for World of Beer according to Crain's, could not be reached for comment. A Tampa-based representative of the company did not return a message.

World of Beer will follow two new restaurant openings last month at the mall: Mago Grill and Nando's. The Sloopin blog noticed last week that World of Beer is now listed in shops' directory.
