EDGEWATER — Bacci Pizza and an Athletico physical therapy location could be among new tenants to fill ground-floor retail space along the completed Devon Apartments, according to broker Michael D'Agostino.

Neither business has signed a lease, but both provided letters of intent expressing interest in the storefronts. Athletico would anchor the bottom floor at 1325 W. Devon Ave. and Bacci would be one of two tenants at 1301 W. Devon Ave.

Though Kiser Group, the brokerage firm selling the Devon Apartments property, listed Lou Malnati's as one of its tenants, a representative of the famous Chicago pizza chain said the "timing is just not right for us" and they were "not currently pursuing this location."

But the restaurant said it was "interested in eventually having a carryout/delivery pizzeria in this neighborhood" possibly in the future.

In November, Ald. Joe Moore (49th) told constituents multiple restaurants were in negotiations competing for the ground floor of the apartment buildings.

Another 1,200-square-foot commercial space is still available at 1301 W. Devon Ave., which could become a hair or nail salon, D'Agostino said.

At 1244 W. Devon Ave., which houses 10 of the total 26 apartment units between the three buildings, Madison Construction has leased a 5,100-square-foot office.

Madison Construction is also behind the new proposed Target at Sheridan and Devon, and built the Devon Apartments as well as the Heartland Health Center.

The Devon Apartments are for sale for an unlisted price through Kiser Group.

Bacci Pizza and Athletico did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
