2 Killed, 13 Wounded In Shootings Since Monday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings on the South and West Side left two people dead and another 13 wounded between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, police said.

Darrell Peden, 17, was found shot to death in West Garfield Park Monday night.

Hours later, an unidentified man was fatally shot in Englewood.

• Most recently, at 5:17 a.m. Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old man was standing in the 2400 block of West 64th Street in Chicago Lawn when three men walked up and one of them shot him, according to a preliminary police incident report.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot in his groin, police said. Police could not immediately provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• Around midnight, two young people were shot and wounded on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway.

• At 11:12 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot and wounded in Englewood.

• At 11:05 p.m. Monday night, a 22-year-old man was walking in the 9700 block of South Prairie Avenue in Roseland when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man brought himself to Roseland Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a graze wound in his left shoulder, Estrada said.

• At 10:45 p.m., a 27-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 3800 block of West Fillmore Street in North Lawndale when two men walked up and tried to rob him at gunpoint, Estrada said.

As he tried to drive away, the men shot at him, hitting him in his left arm and right hand, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said, where he was "stable."

• At 10:38 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot in Roseland.

• At 9:22 p.m., an 18-year-old man was standing on a front porch in the 1900 block of South Hamlin Avenue in North Lawndale when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" with gunshot wounds in his abdomen and arms, police said.

• At 8:50 p.m., a 20-year-old man was standing in the 4400 block of South Wolcott Avenue in Back of the Yards when a man jumped out of a nearby black sedan and shot at him, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his head, Alfaro said.

• At 7:05 p.m., a 22-year-old man was walking in the 10700 block of South Calumet Parkway in Roseland when someone pulled alongside him in a car and shot at him, Alfaro said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his groin, Alfaro said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 2:45 p.m. Monday afternoon, a 20-year-old man was walking in an alley in the 7900 block of South Essex Avenue in South Chicago when he heard two gunshots and felt pain in his leg, Estrada said.

An acquaintance drove the man to South Shore Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in good condition.

• At 1:23 p.m., a 19-year-old man was standing in the 12400 block of South Yale Avenue in West Pullman when someone shot at him from a passing gray sedan, Alfaro said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was "stable" with a graze wound in his forehead, Alfaro said.

• At 1 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in his arm in the 200 block of West 110th Street in Roseland, Alfaro said.

A friend drove the man to Roseland Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
