Kashawn Johnson Killed In Englewood Shooting, Officials Say

ENGLEWOOD — Two men were shot, one fatally, within an hour of each other Monday night in Englewood, police said.

• At 11:48 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 6300 block of South Parnell Avenue, where they found a man with a gunshot wound in gus head, according to a preliminary police incident report.

The man, whose age was unknown, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

The man was identified as Kashawn Johnson, 24, of the 400 block of East 109th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Johnson was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m. July 19. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound in his head in a homicide.

• At 11:12 p.m., a 22-year-old man was standing in the 6600 block of South Wolcott Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his right leg, police said.

The man brought himself to Holy Cross Hospital, police said. Police could not immediately provide his condition but said he was "stable."

No one is in custody, police said.
