NEAR WEST SIDE — The three-day Pitchfork Music Festival is officially underway on the Near West Side, and tickets are still available if you'd like to enjoy a little live music this weekend.

The festival is being held once again at Union Park, located at 1501 W Randolph St.

Gates opened at 3 p.m Friday, and will open at noon Saturday and Sunday. The box office opens at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Festival-goers Friday said a good vibe was going around thus far during the start of the three-day event.

Amelia Buzzell, a Edgewater resident, had been to Pitchfork four times previously. She told DNAinfo Chicago that she was shocked to see short lines to get in.

"It was very smooth. People going through your bag and such," Buzzell said. "It was the shortest line I have ever seen. I wonder if it had to do with the weather or the time of day."

Buzzell, who bought a three-day pass for the festival, said that seeing shortened lines leads to seeing happier festivals-goers.

"Usually, everyone is sweaty and grumpy. Today, there's no one grumpy, so I hope it holds."

Jesse Valenciana came to Pitchfork to see Mick Jenkins perform. He said performers like Jenkins shows that Pitchfork's lineup has the ability to evolve.

"His music represents Chicago well. Pitchfork is usually "indie," but now they branch out," Valenciana said. "Bringing in a hip-hop artist like this is pretty awesome."

Valenciana said that Pitchfork does a good job of bringing in local acts too.

"Chicago artists performing is awesome," Valenciana said. "I think Mick is the future. I like how the music is being promoted. Look how diverse the crowd is."

Thinking about going? Here are the headliners for each day:

Friday:

Carly Rae Jepsen, Broken Social Scene and Beach House.

Saturday:

Brian Wilson performing "Pet Sounds," Digable Planets and Sufjan Stevens.

Sunday:

Miguel, Homme and FKA twigs.

Pitchfork's lineup includes several artists with Chicago ties such as Mick Jenkins, BJ The Chicago Kid, Jeremih, a Morgan Park High School graduate, and RP Boo, among others.

Those attending the fest can take the CTA Green Line, which has an Ashland Avenue station. The CTA No. 9 Ashland Avenue and the No. 20 Madison Street buses are also running.

Tickets are $65 for each day of the festival and a $165 for a three-day weekend pass.
