LINCOLN SQUARE — Bullets struck three cars on a quiet Lincoln Square street early Wednesday morning and police recovered at least two shell casings, neighbors told DNAinfo.

The cars were all parked on Sunnyside Avenue, near Rockwell Street.

A neighbor who asked that her name not be used said her husband discovered a bullet hole in their car when he left for work about 5:45 a.m. The couple called 911, and police were on the scene within a half-hour, she said.

"They picked up two shell casings on Rockwell," she said.

A second car appeared to have been struck in the windshield, and a third car had bullet holes in its hood and side panel.

The woman and other neighbors said they were awakened by what they thought were gunshots between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.

"We didn't call [police] because we couldn't discern if it was reality or not," she said.

"This gun ---- has got to stop," said another neighbor, who also heard the shots. "What are they doing, just shooting at random?"

Comments on social media suggest that there have been at least two other recent similar incidents in the area of cars being struck by bullets. Those reports are unconfirmed.

"Of course I feel nervous," said the woman whose car was hit on Sunnyside. "It sucks."
