CHICAGO — The West Loop and Near West Side have been hit with two robberies at knifepoint recently, police said.
During one robbery, the thief told a victim to give him money. When the victim refused, the thief took out a knife and forced the victim to hand over money, police said.
During another robbery, the thief took a cellphone from a victim and then threatened him with a knife, police said.
The robberies occurred:
• 10 a.m. June 26 in the first block of North Canal Street
• 6:10 p.m. June 30 in the 600 block of West Harrison Street
The thief was described as a black man age 27-30 who is 5-foot-10 and weighs 175 pounds. He had a black afro and a tattoo on his face and was wearing a light blue baseball hat, light blue shirt, white shorts and muddy boots in one of the robberies, police said.
In the other robbery, the thief was described as a black man age 18-25 who is 5-foot-11, weighs 170 pounds and was wearing a blue baseball hat, blue and red jacket and tan shorts, police said.
