CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded in Washington Park on Wednesday, police said.

At 12:38 p.m., the boy was standing in the 100 block of East 57th Street when a man walked up, fired shots and ran away, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The boy was hit in his leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Sweeney said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
