As We Hit 10 Years Of Twitter, Take A Look At Epic Chicago First Tweets

CHICAGO — This month marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of Twitter, which was supposed to be a podcasting platform called Odeo but turned into a multi-billion-dollar entity with a little blue Tweety bird.

Some have mastered Twitter with creative Tweets and quality uses of emojis. Others, not so much.

To honor the 10 years of Twitter, which was created in March 2006 and officially launched July 15, 2006, DNAinfo took a look back at some of Chicago's most well-known Tweeters at their first Tweets. This site allows you to look at your very first Tweet as well.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression

ALL CAPS!!!!!!

This is my first twitter

Tweet received a lot of feedback

A decent first effort

Things apparently were confusing in the early days of Twitter

Whoa!

Pretty good opening Tweet

Pretty poor opening Tweet

Epic use of poor typing skills

Huh????

Was still the White Sox manager then

Patrick Kane won this rookie of the year trophy before hoisting three Stanley Cups

This was the first year of the Jay Cutler era. Sigh

And so was a very solid career with the Bears

Sounds like an injury issue

Getting ready for NCAA tournament at Marquette

Yo

Touche

Nice photo

Consistency from the start

Pretty depressing

Only three years ago

No clue what this means

A big rise up the music charts since this first Tweet

When she worked at Channel 5

Will do!

This is how a lot of us felt in 2011

Everybody gets one mulligan

Twitter handles get hungry, too

Doesn't get much better than this

Riveting update

Shameless self promotion

Did anyone actually faint?

Rest in peace, Mr. Ebert
