ROGERS PARK — Bulldog Ale House is the new restaurant slated to fill an empty storefront along busy Sheridan Road near Loyola University, according to the company's owner.

The restaurant serves traditional American fare like burgers, salads, wings and wraps and is currently located in a few suburbs, such as Carol Stream and Roselle.

The pub also includes a beer list for each location on its website, and the Loyola location could have between 60-70 different brews to choose from, owner Max Amenti said Monday.

If all goes well, Amenti said he hopes to have a "serious buildout" of the space, complete with "vintage" charm, ready to open some time in November.

The city recently approved building permits to convert the storefront at 6606 N. Sheridan Road from a retail store into a restaurant, records show. The project is expected to cost $200,000, records show.

Amenti said though construction has begun, he is still waiting to get his liquor permits from the city.

After having "looked in the area for a while," Amenti said his team decided on the Sheridan Road spot because it offered a concept suiting for both families and college students that was unlike other surrounding restaurants.

In recent years, the location has been home to a cell phone and corner store, as well as a temporary Halloween costume shop in the fall. It sits adjacent to a section of apartment buildings, as well as a Chipotle and Bop N Grill.

Dearborn Architects are slated to design the project, according to records.
