Near West Side Accidental Shooting Wounds 21-Year-Old Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A Near West Side shooting left a 21-year-old man wounded early Friday, police said.

At midnight, the man said he was with a group of people, one of whom had a gun, and was accidentally shot while the gun was being handled in the 2700 block of West Monroe Street, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in his left ankle. His friends brought him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition, Pacheco said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
