WEST LOOP — A woman was injured Thursday when a worker accidentally dropped a brick from a West Loop building.
At about 8:44 a.m. Thursday, someone working on a construction site at 600 W. Jackson Blvd. in the West Loop accidentally dropped a brick from a roped-off construction area, according to a law enforcement source. The brick, which went tumbling to the street below, struck a parked car, shattering the car's sunroof.
The woman suffered scratches and bruises from the broken glass, but was not struck by the brick, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. An ambulance did respond to the scene, but it is not known if the woman was transported to the hospital.
Building inspectors have been notified and the construction site has been shut down for now.
