Movies in the Parks: Kid-Friendly 'Rio' Showing at Bartelme Park Wednesday

WEST LOOP — The animated comedy "Rio" will be shown under the the nighttime sky in the West Loop Wednesday night. 

The kid-friendly movie will kick off about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mary Bartelme Park, 115 S. Sangamon St.

The 2011 film, featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Tracy Morgan and others, follows domesticated macaw Blu. After meeting a wild and independent new friend Jewel, the pair set off on a free-wheeling adventure to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to the movie's description. 

"Rio," which inspired sequel "Rio 2," is rated G and runs 1 hour and 36 minutes. 

The movie screening, part of the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Parks program, is free and open to the public.
