LITTLE VILLAGE — A 16-year-old boy was shot in his back in Little Village Tuesday night, police said.

Around 9:20 p.m., the teen was standing on the sidewalk in the 2300 block of South Whipple Street when someone shot at him from a passing gray sedan, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The teen was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, Lemmon said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Lemmon said.
