WEST LOOP — Cyclist ready to strip down and enjoy a evening ride in the nude will hit the streets for World Naked Bike Ride Saturday night.

The 13th annual ride has a "dual purpose of bringing attention to people powered transport and promoting positive body image," Chicago organizers said.

With temperatures creeping towards triple digits this weekend, shedding a few layers might not be such a bad way to cool down.

The event kicks off in the West Loop at an undisclosed location. Cyclist interested in participating can check out the Facebook event page for check-in details. Festivities, including a photo booth and body painting for the more modest and/or creative riders, usually begins at 6 p.m.

Participants must use "man-powered wheels" to join and the ride usually winds through Chicago from 8-11 p.m., covering anywhere from 12-22 miles.

You don't have to ride fully nude to participate, though. Body paint, socks, tape, underwear and "fanciful costumes" are welcome. Riders should arrive at check-in wearing clothes and keep their outfits on them at all times during the ride, organizers said.

Make sure to hydrate and use the bathroom before jumping on your bike, since there will only be a few short stops during the route. It's free to join, just make sure to be respectful of other riders and no cameras are allowed.

World Naked Bike Ride events take place in cities around the world. Slogans for the ride include "Nude not Crude," "bicyclist make better lovers," and "Why are we riding bikes naked? Why aren't you?"
