CHICAGO — Animal Care and Control is hosting an adoption event to help people rescue Chicago pets.

It will cost $65 to adopt a dog, cat, puppy or kitten. The pets will be spayed or neutered and microchipped and will have received a variety of vaccinations.

Attendees will also be able to see the department's new Dog Adoption Pavilion and meet its new director.

The event is from noon to 2:30 p.m. June 18 at 2741 S. Western Ave. Would-be pet parents will have to bring a government-issued photo ID and a copy of their lease if they rent.
