PILSEN — A man was charged with arson after starting a fire that caused damage to a Pilsen business during the Mole de Mayo festival Sunday night, police announced Tuesday.

Around 7:35 p.m., Alejandro Lozano, 33, broke into a Metro PCS store through its front window in the 1500 block of West 18th Street and started a fire that caused "significant damage" to the building, police said.

Earlier, police had said that he accidentally set himself on fire in the street, and that the fire spread to the store.

Lozano was arrested and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, police said.

Lozano, of the 2100 block of West 19th Street, faces one count of arson.
